Life Digest 2026 Weeks 15-16

Books Read
Mort - Terry Pratchett (1987)
Strange News from Another Planet - Hermann Hesse
Innamorata - Ava Reid (2026)
Ok now that I have finished the book I understand why it was like that: the author was so adamant that this was not a romance book, despite the fact that the plot was very heavily centered around a romantic drama and there was barely any political, magical, fantastical, or any other element for a great portion of the book. Definitely the weakest Ava Reid book I’ve read (I’ve read every book of theirs except Fable). The person writing the synopsis should be fired for writing something so misleading. Necromancy and revenge was nowhere to be found in this book.
The most prominent weak point of this book was perhaps its length. Things only get interesting past the 80% mark, and I cannot, for the love of me, comprehend why the first 80% of this book was that long. I swear there was one chapter where a side character recounted events that happened approximately 2 chapters prior.
I really wish that the main character and love interest were at least compelling (or possess functioning brain cells), so it would not be tedious to read about them and/or at least I would feel something other than vindication in regard to the ending (which I quite liked).
My other big disappointment was at how the House of Teeth was literally abandoned within the first few chapters. The Mistress of Teeth was an empty title, and she somehow stayed idle in the capital for a decade without a second thought about her domain. Perhaps this will be addressed in the sequel.

Games played
Genshin Impact (ongoing)
Decided to pull for Durin and Nicole in the next patch for my Wriothesley. I'll probably finish the Temple of Space quest today.
Crochet projects
Lace filet crochet quote (ongoing)
🧶 Aunt Lydia’s classic 10 crochet thread (mercerized cotton, size 10)
🪡 1.75 mm hook
I'm crocheting the border and it's torture. Probably won't finish the lace borders in time but it is what it is.
