Books Read

Ny. Talis: Kisah Mengenai Madras - Budi Darma (1996)

I tried my best, but I’m afraid I just did not get this book at all. I read all the words, but I could not recognise what I was reading. Perhaps it's because I'm quite indifferent to religion or fate, the themes of this book did not register in my mind as the author intended.

Lover Girl - Nicole Sellew (2026; ARC)

The tone of the narration really suited the main character: shallow, male-centred, self-hating, misogynistic, and vapid. I wish the book were not written in 1st person PoV because then it could actually say something interesting about its subject matter instead of being stuck in this character's mind the entire time. I think this would be okay as a short story, but I really don’t enjoy spending an extended period of time being inside the head of someone with nothing going on upstairs.

The Colour of Magic - Terry Pratchett (1983)

My boyfriend really liked this one but he hasn't read any of the City Watch ones. I can say with certainty that I very much liked the City Watch books better, although this one was still entertaining.

Enshittification: Why Everything Suddenly Got Worse and What to Do About It - Cory Doctorow (2025)

A mastercass in non-fiction (for laypeople) writing. This book did a great job explaining and dissecting, thoroughly and from multiple angles, a complex issue that impacts an overwhelming majority of people. And it did so in a very accessible language with a sarcastic tone that's entertaining to read. The cherry on top of the cake was the last part of the book, which explored what can be done and what is being done to tackle the issue, essentially leaving the readers with a sense of hope and empowerment in the face of technofeudalism.

Current Reads

A Study in Charlotte - Brittany Cavallaro (2016)

Fun and dramatic. Plenty of weakness but it's ok to not think about them.

Games played

Metaphor: ReFantazio (ongoing)

35 hours of playing and it's now too stressful for me to continue. I'm not that into the story so I don't know if I will actually continue playing.

The Barbie Diaries: High School Mystery (finished)

Finally finished this game I've been playing on my NDS emulator on my cell phone. It's just going back and forth throughout the school, but it's good to spend some time when I didn't want to think.

Pokemon Black (ongoing)

Started this 1-2 years ago and I'm pretty sure I've defeated the gym leader in Nimbasa City but apparently I haven't. I think I'd rather continue playing this than Metaphor.
